This Week's BOLD idea:
Betting On Yourself
Hello, BOLD Community!
Ever notice how some people seem to effortlessly thrive in what they do? Like their work, environment, and energy all line up to amplify their brilliance?
Here’s the secret: it’s not luck. It’s alignment.
These are people who’ve stopped trying to be good at everything and instead built their lives around what they naturally do best. They know their unique value and they protect it.
In marketing, we call this a Unique Value Proposition or UVP for short. It’s what sets a brand apart. But it applies to people too. Your UVP is that blend of talent, instinct, and perspective that no one else can replicate.
Before I was diagnosed with ADHD, I spent years trying to force myself into rooms that weren’t designed for how I think, create, or operate. I thought I was the problem. I was too distracted, too disorganized, too different. So, I kept trying to fix my flaws instead of building around my strengths.
The result? Burnout. Numbness. Total disconnection from myself.
Everything changed when I realized I wasn’t broken. I was just in the wrong rooms.
This week’s blog is about betting on yourself and building a life that works with your strengths—not against them.
It’s inspired by one of my all-time favorite campaigns:
Casey Neistat’s “Make It Count” for Nike.
Last week, I shared this video as a masterclass in storytelling (see the post here). But this time, I’m looking at it through a different lens, because Casey didn’t just tell a story. He made a bold bet on himself.
He took the budget, tossed the rulebook, and trusted his instincts.
Yes, Make It Count sells an identity. But it also sells a belief:
- Believe in yourself
- Bet on your strengths
- Don’t wait for permission—create your own environment
This week’s blog breaks it all down:
The Bet That Pays Off Every Time: Betting on Yourself
Read the full post here »
You’ll learn how Casey rewrote the rules, why knowing your UVP is a game-changer, and how to start making small (but powerful) bets on yourself too.
Your story doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
And honestly? That’s the point.
